Brice Williams, a senior guard for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, has been making significant waves in the Big Ten Conference with his exceptional performances on the court.
Standing at 6-foot-7 and hailing from Huntersville, North Carolina, Williams transferred to Nebraska from Charlotte, bringing with him a wealth of talent and experience.
In a standout game against Indiana on December 14, 2024, Williams scored a season-high 30 points, leading the Cornhuskers to an 85-68 victory. His performance was instrumental in Nebraska’s strong finish, as he contributed eight points during a decisive 17-1 run in the final six and a half minutes of the game. Williams’ stat line for the night was impressive, with 10-of-15 shooting from the field, six rebounds, and five assists.
This outstanding performance earned Williams the Big Ten Player of the Week honor on December 16, 2024. He became only the second Husker in the Big Ten era to record 30 points and five assists in a single game. At that point in the season, Williams was averaging 18.9 points per game on 50 percent shooting, with four 20-point games to his name, underscoring his pivotal role in Nebraska’s offense.
Williams’ journey to Nebraska began at Charlotte, where he played three seasons and accumulated 801 points and 329 rebounds over 88 games. In the 2022-23 season, he led the 49ers with an average of 13.8 points per game, earning second-team All-Conference USA honors and guiding the team to a College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Championship. His exceptional play during the CBI earned him the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.
Since joining the Cornhuskers, Williams has continued to excel. In the 2023-24 season, he was the only Nebraska player to participate in all 34 games, averaging 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He led the team in several categories, including three-point shooting percentage (39%) and free throw percentage (84.4%), ranking seventh in the Big Ten for the latter. Williams reached double figures in scoring 25 times during the season, highlighting his consistency and reliability as a scorer.
Beyond his on-court achievements, Williams has demonstrated resilience and determination throughout his career. He overcame a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2021-22 season, returning to play at a high level and earning multiple accolades, including USBWA National Player of the Week and Conference USA Player of the Week honors.
Williams’ basketball pedigree is notable, as his father, Henry Williams, is Charlotte’s all-time leading scorer with 2,383 points and had his No. 34 jersey retired in 1992. Henry Williams was a second-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs in 1992 and enjoyed a successful professional career overseas, including being named the Italian League MVP in 1995-96.
As the Nebraska Cornhuskers continue their season, Brice Williams remains a central figure in their pursuit of success in the highly competitive Big Ten Conference. His scoring ability, leadership, and experience make him a player to watch as the season progresses.
