Antonio Cromartie Jr., son of former NFL All-Pro and Florida State University (FSU) standout Antonio Cromartie Sr., has committed to FSU, continuing his family’s legacy with the Seminoles.
Cromartie Jr., a 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back from Carrollton High School in Georgia, received an offer from FSU head coach Mike Norvell on Christmas Day. He promptly scheduled an official visit for January 10, culminating in his commitment to the Seminoles.
During his senior season, Cromartie Jr. showcased his defensive prowess with 85 tackles, four forced fumbles, four pass breakups, and one interception. His versatility and high football IQ have been noted by FSU’s defensive backs coach, Pat Surtain, who envisions him playing multiple roles in the secondary.
Despite being rated as a low three-star recruit, Cromartie Jr. attracted interest from several programs, including Southeast Missouri State, UT-Martin, Wofford, and evaluations from Texas A&M. However, the opportunity to follow in his father’s footsteps at FSU was a compelling factor in his decision.
Antonio Cromartie Sr. made a significant impact at FSU between 2003 and 2005, earning first-team All-ACC honors in 2004. He was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers and enjoyed a distinguished NFL career, including four Pro Bowl selections and leading the league in interceptions in 2007.
Cromartie Jr.’s commitment adds depth to FSU’s 2025 recruiting class, which currently holds the No. 18 overall ranking. His addition is expected to bolster the Seminoles’ secondary, bringing both talent and a storied legacy to the program.
This commitment underscores the enduring appeal of FSU’s football program, particularly for legacy players eager to contribute to the Seminoles’ storied history. As FSU continues to build its roster for the upcoming season, the addition of players like Cromartie Jr. reflects a blend of tradition and talent aimed at returning the program to national prominence.
